12 August: International Youth Day 2010
The International Youth Day is celebrated every 12 August as declared by the United Nations General Assembly. This year’s International Youth Day is a particularly important day for youth around the world because it coincides with the start of the International Year of Youth (August 2010-2011).

4-6 August 2010: 7th Annual Youth Assembly at the United Nations
The Youth Assembly is an annual gathering of hundreds of young people from 18 to 26 years old worldwide who seek practical ways to contribute to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals through individual action, global networking and social entrepreneurship skills.

    1-11 August 2010: European BEST Engineering Competition (EBEC), Cluj-Napoca, Romania
The best engineering students from all over Europe will compete and compare their abilities on the European BEST Engineering Competition. This event will gather new ideas and solutions from the most brilliant young minds in Europe while facing real life engineering challenges. 

On 15 September the “Youth on the Move” initiative will be adopted by the European Commission. The initiative will promote the mobility of students and trainees and improve the employment situation of young people. It will define what needs to be done at EU level to unleash the potential of young people to achieve smart, inclusive and sustainable growth in the EU.

The purpose of the World Online Survey is to identify the opinions and suggestions of young people worldwide regarding the challenges and actions that governments, civil society organisations, international cooperations, the private sector and society as a whole can undertake to change the current situation faced by youth in the areas of poverty, education, information and communication technologies, health, gender equality, human security, human rights, sustainable development, international migration, citizens’ participation and advocacy, and global partnership and cooperation.
